Love the project and just purchased the USB kit which I’ll use mainly in my living room or on holiday
My house is quite big and I have my ISP router than TP Link Deko mesh network because my sky router doesn’t quite cut it upstairs
Is there a way to run VPN whole-house because Deko doesn’t support wireguard and even though it’s fast for wireless it’s godawful for VPN performance?
Yes you can - technically you can switch the port on the Raspberry Pi to LAN and connect it to the WAN Port in Deco (PiFi App > Settings > Network Settings > Port (LAN/WAN) - Set to LAN) and pair wirelessly to Sky via PiFi app
But, what I’d recommend for best speeds is keep your Raspberry Pi plugged into your Sky router and connect a USB-to-Ethernet adapter (one like this) and have that cable go into the WAN port on Deco
That way you’ll get way faster speeds - I’ve seen close to 1Gbps VPN with that setup on my network!
So I can use pifi as basically the brains of my more expensive router then that’s pretty cool
May have an ethernet adapter for my mac lying around somewhere so will give this a go
