How can I enable mDNS support on PIFI on a RaspberryPi4
Apologies for delayed response, Can I confirm the objective of using mDNS - is it just to be able to access admin via a hostname rather than 192.168.3.14?
It may or may not be what you’re looking for but pi.fi is used as a hostname so if you enter that it should load
Also, some package mentioned here too may be of use since PiFi is ultimately Openwrt under the hood.
yes, install the umdns package. it doesn't need configuring.
ps. if you install wsdd2 you get llmnr too

The purpose is allowing application to discovery of controlled devices logged into to the WiFi.
How do I add?
- Go to Pyramid App > Settings > More Settings > Advanced (LuCI) and sign in
- Go to System > Software
- Click Update lists, then search for umdns
- Click Install
- (Optional) For Windows-style discovery as well, you can also install wsdd2
No configuration is normally needed — once umdns is installed, it starts automatically and allows other devices or apps to discover services on the network (like AirPlay, DLNA, HomeKit, etc.).
This should work as it’s OpenWrt underneath but this question is very in the realm of general Openwrt question and there is probably a lot of ‘how to enable mdns on openwrt’ solutions out there - above is how to access LuCI for openwrt
Hello, people! Maybe you can help… My PiFi does not seem to want to ‘hand out’ to my IOT gadgets the desired DNS, which is good 'ol 8.8.8.8 It is handing out 192.168.1.1
I came across this thread…I attempted ‘Update Lists’ …and was rewarded with thisw.
