Have the same issue with two different SD cards: The one that came with the PIFI kit and a downloaded on copied to my own SD card.
I’m going to test with your specific bootloader and follow up
The one that came with the kit did have issues with new bootloaders (basically the bootloader changed so we needed to release an updated version for compatibility)
But the new version (from downloads) should be totally fine. Will work out what’s going on.
My initial thoughts are maybe it’s hanging on to files and it’s not been a clean reinstall of the image you can download but allow me to test on same bootloader/hardware as you and confirm best fix
Yes, must have been something unsound with my initial copy of download to sd card, to two different cards???
I downloaded the same image again, copied to sd and this time it booted ok. Just for sanity I copied the original download to sd again and now that boots as well.
Booth images are identical, so I’m not sure what went wrong.
Are there any extras on the official Pifi SD card or can I just burn the most recent downloaded image to it?
The one in /downloads is newer and more update than the SD
But yes the firmware is identical - the app has some differences when using the PiFi dongle but firmware is the same
