Has anyone got One Mesh working on a PFi?
Seems like it’s vendor specific i.e it only works on TP-Link (via ChatGPT):
OneMesh is not compatible with OpenWrt/PiFi
Here’s a breakdown:
Why OneMesh Doesn’t Work with OpenWrt or PiFi:
OneMesh is proprietary: It’s TP-Link’s closed-source, vendor-specific technology. No open-source support: TP-Link hasn’t released the source code or specifications needed for OpenWrt to replicate OneMesh functionality.
Firmware requirement: OneMesh only works with TP-Link’s official firmware on supported models. Flashing OpenWrt removes that support.
But… there are things like 802.11s mesh, WDS, or batman-adv on OpenWrt instead
Haven’t tried it so can’t confirm but maybe worth checking something like this if you want a PiFi or OpenWrt based mesh network:
Hi Dylan,
Thanks for your very detailed reply.
I bought a tp-link Wi-Fi range extender to get better coverage from my PiFI. I was hoping that maybe I could use it in mesh mode but clearly that’s not an option but it does work as a simple extender.
