[Solved] Firmware update instructions?

I am a new PiFi user and am very grateful that you’ve created such a useful app. I see that a new firmware for Pi 5’s was posted a few days ago. Are there instructions on upgrading without losing my configuration settings?

Hi,

To update your current image.

:floppy_disk: Step 1. Before we begin, download the latest sysupgrade image from GitHub (link to latest image here, link to GitHub releases here for people discovering this post later) then:

  1. Visit 192.168.3.14 in your browser whilst connected to PiFi in WiFi Settings
  2. Sign in using the password you set via the PiFi App
  3. Go to System > Backup / Flash Firmware
  4. I’d recommend first downloading a backup
  5. Then under Flash new firmware image, select the image you downloaded in step 1 (above) - it should be titled pifi-1.5.2-bcm27xx-bcm2712-rpi-5-squashfs-sysupgrade.img.gz - ensure it says squashfs-sysupgrade as other images are not designed to be flashed in this way
  6. After a couple of minutes, you should be all set.

This will be simplified further via in-app updates for one tap updates, but this won’t be available for beta images.

Thank you! Interestingly, after upgrading my LED no longer indicates VPN status. Stays orange all the time though VPN (wireguard) works fine.
