I have another pi which has acts as a Wireguard server and when I connect to that as a client I still get ads, so is there any way I can configure the pi to use PiFi as the DNS so that AdGuard can do its thing.
I really want to make use of PiFi but I think it still has a few issues which need to be ironed out. Planning to go on holiday next mongth and will see how it performs.
Yes, I think I know what you mean - could you go to PiFi App > Settings > VPN Client > Force DNS and then confirm Force DNS (this overrules DNS set by the VPN to use AdGuard Home)
Also, feedback is super helpful if you come across any issues needing ironed out. As it is at the moment our known issues list is pretty small so I’m pretty sure people come across issues and don’t report them
You can let me know anything you find here Report a Bug and it’ll help things get smoother over time
Thanks for responding. I’ve tried this and it doesn’t work, I’ve enabled Force DNS and it still uses the DNS from Wireguard.
Also as I’ve got two pi’s (one with Wireguard and the other with Pifi) is it possible to let the Wireguard use the AdGuard DNS? I think that would be super useful so that even if I don’t use Pifi, everytime I connect to the pi with WG on it it would block the ads.
The other thing I’ve noticed is that on the Chromebook I have to re-connect the NAS each time, not sure if this is a Chromebook issue or down to Pifi.
Another useful feature would be to stop all internet connectivity unless connected to a VPN, much safer while being on a public WIFI.
