i ordered the pifi kit, put the sd card into my raspi, and it shows post, it boots for a second with the led showing green. then it seems to reboot itself with the light flashing red before going green again. i have tried the “universal image” for raspi 4 and 5, no difference. i have downloaded the raspi5 image from the site and tried using that, same issue. it always either reboots or shows me a kernel panic. i have used both the pifi 32gb sd card and a 128 gb sd card i was using raspian on. same result for both cards.
Popped you over an email!
Hi guys. Same problem here, with the same configuration. It keeps rebooting continuously…
Ok, so 8gb has support with our currently available image
Are you able to show what the output is if connected to a display?
Also, if connected to a display without SD card it should show bootloader screen with bootloader version and date - can you confirm version?
It’s possible this is a new issue with a new bootloader from Raspberry Pi (I’d assume so as the newer Pi 2Gb and 16Gb require new images)
When I know that I can advise how to fix (we also have beta images in the works that work with all new hardware and bootloaders)
Same problem here. I bought a new pi 5 - 8gb and flashed the sd. The Pi stays about 5-6 sec in green light, a short 1 sec in red and again and again.
I ordered a display cable now to see whats comes out.
Ok, thanks, when you do see display if you let me know the bootloader version that’s helpful
I’m aware of the newer devices (2Gb/16Gb) had changes which needed newer firmware, but it’s always worked on Pi 5 (8Gb) and I’ve not been able to replicate that issue so far
That being said there’s a new beta firmware image coming out on Friday for Pi 5 so if that image is no longer compatible with a newly released bootloader then that will provide a fix
We also have a beta image just now but it’s lacking support for PiFi Kit (I’m not sure if you’re using that), but I’d probably use the image that’s available from Friday
Hi please try the newly released image, it should work well now:
that release is booting correctly now. thank you!
